The Dream Act is nightmare for progressives — and they can’t wake up

Tonight the House passed the Dream Act to the cheer of progressives around the country.

Unfortunately none of them read the fine print posted on Whitehouse.gov:

Uncle Sam Says, The DREAM Act supports our troops: Secretary of Defense Gates has written to DREAM Act sponsors citing the rich precedent of non-citizens serving in the U.S. military and stating that “the DREAM Act represents an opportunity to expand [the recruiting] pool, to the advantage of military recruiting and readiness.

That’s right. The DREAM Act increases the potential pool of military recruits by allowing Washington to promise foreign youth the opportunity to kill other foreign youth in exchange for citizenship. If the poor youth of Mexico are willing to be our mercenaries for two years, they are entitled to an American passport.

You would think this would give progressives pause. You would think it would cause them to reconsider how they square their opposition to American imperial adventures with their backing of this bill. You would think they might be willing to question the right of their own government, and other governments, to decide where on this earth someone might decide to go — and to do it without needless border divisions, checkpoints, passports, identity cards, DNA samples, Xray nudie pictures, TSA gropes and the like.

But, then YOU would be thinking — which is something the Progressive Hive-Mind appears to have difficulty doing.

Yes, it better to catch such acts early in the game, or we have to wail till WikiLeaks rake up the muck much after the harm is already done!
