La loi, il est le Messie!

The law is what the Messiah says it is?

We have, thus far, refused to involve ourselves in the incongruity of awarding peace prizes to polished technocrat murderers, but this statement takes the cake – icing and all:

Where force is necessary, we have a moral and strategic interest in binding ourselves to certain rules of conduct. And even as we confront a vicious adversary that abides by no rules, I believe that the United States of America must remain a standard bearer in the conduct of war. That is what makes us different from those whom we fight. That is a source of our strength. That is why I prohibited torture. That is why I ordered the prison at Guantanamo Bay closed. And that is why I have reaffirmed America’s commitment to abide by the Geneva Conventions.

According to our reading of the Constitution, treaties entered into by the United States are binding as law on all Americans. Thus, for instance, a president can not unilaterally decide to violate key provisions of laws against torture.

Further, torture has always been seen as a violation of constitutional protection against cruel and unusual punishment, self-incrimination, and probably other provisions and rights as well.

So, where the fuck does this asshole get off stating that he prohibited torture? That he reaffirmed America’s commitment to abide by the Geneva Conventions.

We decided not to murder, rape, assault, or otherwise injury anyone today – Do we get any points for that?

You don’t get point for following the Constitution and the laws of the United States!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And, if those dumb shits in Congress had any balls, the Moron would be in jail today for having violated them.

What the fuck happened to this country in the last ten years?
